  1. In this reading Matt and Tish's mom us still gone. Tish tires to go get the checks that thier mom left them but she cant get the vacation money because apperanlty she took to many sick days. Tish gets the bills that she has been worried about and she figures out the her dad was only able to get all those nice things that he gave them with their moms credit card and when the card got maxed out he left so she thinks that it wasnt her fault at all.
I think that the book is still a bit depressing and it is getting a little hard on Tish because she dosnt know how she is going to pay all the bills and I think it will be hard because i dont know for how much longer she will be able to keep the secret that her and Matt are living by themselves.
In this section the only main characters are Tish and Matt so I think that they arent flat at all they are 3 dimentional.

  3. Agreed Yael. This part of the book is getting emotional. I hope the Mom Comes back soon, or even better, Tish and Matt find a Better home!

  4. This reading section made me furious. Bad thing after another, and how could a mother leave just like that. I can’t even describe how emotional I would be, and it seems Tish is not happy about it, but she can still live. In my point of view, the day her mother left, Tish should’ve went to a foster home and leave that mother. The mother is an idiot. Although Tish is used to taking care of herself and her brother more than her mom is so she’s fine. In a way, Tish is going through what her mother went through. The dad left and the mother was faced In financial trouble and had to take care of 2 kids herself. Now her mother left and Tish has to take care of herself and her brother. I think Tish is a more fit mother!
I feel in Tish’s diary/journal, she’s not expressing herself like she should be. This book would be more affective if she was actually doing these things in the present instead of talking about them in a diary.

  5. I agree with you Josh if we actually saw her doing things it would be more effective, then having her tell us things in past tense, Great Job Yael and Josh

  6. This reading section to me was one of the saddest of them all, bad thing after another bad thing, The mom is still gone, and we see also in the end of the reading chapter that the Dad maxed out the moms credit card and tish starts to think that that was the reason that he left after Christmas, i agree with her. But it would be very scary for Tish to have to pay the bills, she didn't know you had to pay for more than half of the things in her household. Right now it seems that Tish is 48 year old mother that has a crappy job and cant get the money for the bills, also Matt still sad as usual it would suck to live in that life.

  7. I agree with everything. I think that Tish is very scared about the bills because if she dosn't do them right something could happen and that she is like a 4 year old mother with a crappy job trying to live. Good Job!!:) and dont forget to podt the group meeting notes.

  9. This section of reading is about Tish and Matt's ability to be able to cope with their mom leaving. Tish is extreamly worried about being able to pay the bills. She doesn't have enough money to pay them but when Matt tells her that there is money that she left she feels alot better. When she goes to get the money there is none because she never went to work. She always writes in her book to make her feel a little bit better.
There is lots of climax in the book because there is always something new and important that happens in the book. When you find something new that happens it usually helps explain the next part of the book. One of the elements of mystery is the fact that we dont know if the mom is going to come back and what will happen to the kids. Onother device is will Tish be able to pay the bills. In this book there is no sub plot. The plot is secondary because without the characters there is no plot.

  10. I agree with Zach that it is sad because it talks about how the grandmother died. I also agree that that it is unfare that Ray left because he maxed out his credit card. Good Job Zach
